Rain should never stop play! Cartier Polo fun.

What about the weather? I don’t know what you’re talking about! Tis the season to put on a frock and picnic in the rain.  A little bit of water never harmed anyone. In true British style I had a fabulous picnic of champagne and pasta (I was with Italians) and a cherry tart in the pouring rain under an umbrella along with the entire car park B3 at Guards for The Cartier Queen’s Cup Polo.

There’s something quite indulgent about drinking champagne and watching polo in the pouring rain.
Catching the train from London’s Clapham Junction to Sunningdale is a journey I have done many times but not in an Issa dress amd heels. It was a glamorous version of the Hogwarts express with girls in Erdem and Pretty Woman polka dots and handsome gents in summer suits along with hoards of tourists and weary travellers. Oh the glamour.

What to wear to the Cartier Polo is a bit of a deal. Something summery and chic, breezy and cool… But then it rained and what’s more all those on-trend off-the-shoulder blouses at Zara and billowing dresses hmmmm they are not quite me. I tried them all on straight after my mani-pedi the night before … But remember …. just because the world and their oyster might be wearing the ‘in’ piece if it’s ‘not you’…don’t go there. So I didn’t. Instead I unearthed one of my figure-flattering 24/7 Issa dresses and gave it a polo spin. Which in my speak means adding a panama hat – in blue.

There is no summer weather situation a wedge can’t beat rain or shine. “Look at you… lady in blue,” said my friend’s husband. “It’s for the Queen’s birthday,” I said.  And then he looked down at my neon pink and silver wedge sanals. “And those?! Who are those for?” … “Beyoncè,” I replied. “They’re for Beyoncè” ..because every girl needs a bit of Beyoncè.
